- È consigliata la conoscenza di lingua inglese di livello B1 (Intermediate English). Agli studenti che vorrebbero rafforzare le proprie conoscenze della grammatica di base, si consiglia di frequentare le lezioni di grammatica che verranno tenute dai Collaboratori alla didattica.

Obiettivi formativi
Al termine del 1° anno di corso lo studente deve essere in grado di:
- acquisire, comprendere ed analizzare le strutture grammaticali della lingua Inglese per sviluppare una buona conoscenza della sintassi e del lessico;
- conoscere la terminologia tecnica e medico-scientifica riguardante la neurologia, neuroscienze e le tecniche di neuro-fisiopatologia;
- leggere e tradurre dall’inglese un semplice testo di carattere medico-scientifico;
- comprendere un semplice brano di ascolto.
At the end of the 1° year of the three year English course, therefore, the student is expected to:
- acquire, interpret and analyze basic grammatical structures of the English language in order to develop a satisfactory understanding of the lexical, syntactic and morphological components;
- understand and learn technical and medical-scientific terminology regarding neurology, neuroscience and neuro-physiopathology;
- read and translate from English into Italian a simple medical scientific text;
- understand short, simple listening texts.

Programma
Durante il corso si tratteranno i seguenti argomenti:
- grammatica di base della lingua inglese, con particolare attenzione alle forme usate più frequentemente nella letteratura scientifica;
- funzioni linguistiche principali;
- funzioni linguistiche orientate a tematiche sanitarie ed assistenziali;
- lessico specifico dell’ambiente medico-assistenziale;
- letture inerenti la neurologia, neuroscienze e le tecniche di neuro fisiopatologia.
The following topics will be dealt with during the course:
- basic grammar of the English language, focusing on the most common forms used in medical English;
- main linguistic functions;
- linguistic functions focusing on health care topics, neurological tests and procedures;
- very specific medical scientific vocabulary;
- readings on neurology, neuroscience and neuro-physiopatholgy.
Modalità di insegnamento
L’insegnamento si articola in un modulo che prevede 36 ore di lezione di didattica frontale (3 CFU).
Durante il corso verranno adottate le seguenti forme didattiche:
Insegnamento frontale orientato alla didattica interattiva. Comprensione di lettura ed ascolto con esercizi inerente la comprensione ed esercizi di grammatica, traduzioni ed analisi di testi con esercizi di domande vero/falso, gap fills e domande aperte.
The teaching module consists of 36 hours of formal in-class lecture time (3 credits).
The following teaching methods will be adopted:
Frontal and formal interactive teaching by means of reading/listening and comprehensions, translations and analyses of medical texts with true/false questions, gap fills, grammar exercises, multiple choice questions, Use of English and open questions.
Modalità di verifica dell'apprendimento
Prova scritta ed orale con valutazione di idoneità.
La prova scritta consiste in:
- Quaranta Domande Vero/Falso inerenti il programma;
- Esercizi di Grammatica suddivise in 4 parti, Gap Fill, Use of English, Correzione degli errori, domande a scelta multipla ed inserimento del tempo verbale corretto;
- Quindici Domande a scelta multipla con 4 risposte e una sola corretta;
- Test di vocaboli sul programma (50 domande).
La prova orale consiste in:
- Esposizione da parte dello studente della sua esperienza di tirocinio, patologia e/o un apparato, etc.
Per il superamento dell’esame scritto bisogna ottenere il 70 percento in ogni sua parte diversamente non si potrà accedere alla prova orale. Lo studente può sostenere l’esame solo se ha frequentato il 70% delle lezioni.
Written and oral test with pass/Fail grading
The written test includes:
- Forty True/False questions based on the program;
- Grammar Exercises divided into 4 different parts, Gap Fill, Use of English, Correcting errors, multiple choice questions and choosing the correct verb tense;
- Fifteen Multiple Choice Questions with 4 possible answers and only 1 correct;
- Vocabulary Test on program (50 questions).
The oral test includes:
- Discussion of training experience, disease and/or body system, etc.
Students must achieve a minimum grade of 70 percent in each and every part of the written exam in order to take the oral exam. The student may take the exam only if he/she has attended 70% of the lessons.

Written and oral drills will be carried out by the assistants during the optional lessons. Further reading and comprehensions and translations of medical scientific texts.
